Many people think that having a Blue Card (WWC in QLD) is the same as getting a Police Check, but that’s not the case at all.

The Blue Card is intended to be an ongoing monitoring mechanism, such that organisations who employ employees or volunteers can get notified if that person has potentially dangerous convictions recorded against them.  Thus, the organisation must have procedures in place, notably to notify Blue Card Services of new workers.

The Blue Card does not check for non-children related criminal activity, and is only useful if the organisation submits each worker to Blue Card Services, so that they get notified in the event of a conviction.

With that said, here is Blue Card Services video #2, about developing a Statement of Commitment, which is also one of their compliance requirements for organisations.
